About

The Heart Behind Koro Farmstay

Koro Farmstay, led by Alfred Okello, a former IT engineer turned environmentalist, is committed to restoring ecosystems and promoting sustainable agriculture in northern Uganda. Alfred also spearheads Northgreener, an initiative focused on raising awareness about deforestation. Through this project, he has introduced the making of biomass briquettes and designed an innovative biomass briquette stove to offer cleaner energy alternatives to local communities.

Our mission is to reverse the environmental damage caused by conflict and deforestation through reforestation, organic farming, and agritourism. We go beyond tree planting by promoting traditional farming methods and preserving original seeds, which helps protect indigenous agricultural knowledge. Our emphasis on permaculture ensures that we farm in harmony with nature, enriching the soil and boosting biodiversity.

Through agritourism, visitors can actively participate in organic farming, learn about traditional seeds and permaculture, and experience sustainable living first hand. We also offer volunteering opportunities, where participants can get involved in reforestation efforts, organic farming, and community development projects, making a tangible impact on the land and the local community.
